Louth hospital receives boost

HOSPITAL services in Dundalk received a major boost this week with news that a state of the art ultrasound unit is to be installed at the Louth County Hospital.
The Louth County Hospital will be only the third hospital in the country to have this high speed scanner, joining St Vincent's Hospital Dublin and Cork University Hospital.The unit will be purchased by the Louth Hospital Support Group using funds raised by the recent CT Scanner appeal.Hopes are high that the ultrasound equipment will be purchased will be installed by the end of December.The Ultrasound scanner can perform up to 30 examinations a day and is used in the treatment of deep vein thrombosis, gallstones, bile duct problems, pelvic and obstetric problems.
